The UNT Center for Human Identification (UNTCHI) has been an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory since 2004. Currently, the laboratory is accredited by ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
ANAB is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that provides accreditation services to public and private-sector organizations and is jointly owned by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the American Society for Quality (ASQ).
ANAB provides accreditation services for UNTCHI based on an assessment of the laboratory's technical qualifications and competence for specific forensic testing. ANAB verifies that the laboratory demonstrates conformity to the ISO/IEC 17025 standards and the FBI's Quality Assurance Standards for Forensic DNA Testing Labs and DNA Databasing Labs. An accreditation certificate is only issued after nonconformities are resolved. This assures the customer that UNTCHI is compliant with the appropriate ISO standards.
ANAB is a signatory of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) multilateral recognition arrangements.
